Michelle Pitts-Luckett, President and Owner of the New Pitts Mortuary, is without a doubt a true leader.  Her human interaction skills are remarkable and her ability to lead with ease and effectiveness remains unquestioned.  She is one of few black female owners operating a funeral home here in the State of Wisconsin.  Michelle took ownership of what was then Pitts Funeral Home back in October of 1996 and has taken her business to an entirely new level.  Today she serves over 300 families in the City of Milwaukee and the surrounding communities on an annual basis.

In addition to serving families during one the most difficult periods of their lives, Michelle also remains active in the community.  She sponsors numerous events, programs and activities, she serves and supports a number of charities, and she ministers at churches throughout Milwaukee.

Michelle has received a number of awards for her work in church and throughout the community.  She has been honored with CYD’s Image Award, Milwaukee County Board of Supervisor’s New Black Caucus Award and several other distinguished community service awards.  She was also named “Woman of the Year” by a local radio station.

Michelle is the host of the New Pitts Mortuary’s Gospel Hour on WNOV’s (860 AM & 106.5 FM) radio show.  Every Sunday afternoon, during the gospel hour, she pays tribute to the families she has served.  As a result of all her efforts, she has since experienced a significant increase in business and credits God for her success.  She, along with her husband, Nate Luckett, and staff, truly believes their duty (when it comes to service) is more than just a job; it’s a ministry!
